Back to School Ideas

back to school ideas for organizing your school year

The BACK TO SCHOOL countdown has begun! In my kids' school district, the new school year is only about three weeks away! That means many of us moms will be scrambling to be ready for school and hectic fall schedules! So, I'm sharing some ideas to get the new school year off to a good start! I love the DIY Homework Station Idea by Must Have Mom!  I love how she organized all her kids' homework supplies (like notebooks, crayons, pencils, etc.) to fit neatly on one portable tray. And each school supply has its own container! Genius! My kids like to do their homework on our kitchen table, so Continue reading...

DIY Outdoor Chair Cushions

written by Lauren

DIY outdoor seat cushions

* I received fabric from Premier Prints in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed in this point are my own. This summer I have been on a mission -- on a mission to beautify my home's patio! In recent weeks, I've painted a DIY beverage cart, spray painted some Adirondack chairs and added a lovely yellow hue to a hand-me-down coffee table for my home's paver patio. But I didn't stop there -- I made some budget DIY outdoor cushions for my patio's wrought iron dining set! I have been wanting outdoor cushions for my patio's dining set for a while now. I've never wanted to pay a lot Continue reading...

How to Prepare for Bunion Surgery

written by Lauren

how to prepare for bunion surgery

*This post contains Amazon affiliate links. Two weeks ago I had bunion surgery. It's a surgery I knew I would need and have been dreading for years! I've had a bunion since I was about 10 years old, and this spring, my bunion had gotten to the point where it was causing me nightly pain. Plus, my big toe was starting to cross over my second toe. So, I scheduled my bunion surgery for earlier this month. I would not suggest bunion surgery just for cosmetic reasons. I will have to keep off my foot for at least 4-6 weeks. I've only left my house once so far in the past two weeks! Luckily, for Continue reading...

natural accents by Stacy Risenmay

*This post contains Amazon affiliate links. Today is the next installment of the Make It Happen Blog Hop! Each month, a group of bloggers tackle a new shared challenge while growing friendships and getting to know other bloggers. Last month's Make It Happen Blog Hop challenge was cooking, where I shared my snickerdoodles recipe! This month we will all review a favorite book we've read. Since I just adore reading books by other bloggers, and books about home decor, I am reviewing Natural Accents by Stacy Risenmay of Not Just a Housewife. Stacy's Not Just a Housewife is one of the Continue reading...

Summer Travel — Hope Lake Lodge

written by Lauren

hope lake lodge

*I received accommodations from the beautiful Hope Lake Lodge in exchange for this post. Thanks, Hope Lake Lodge, for a wonderful family vacation! Earlier today I shared with you about the fantastic Taylor Swift 1989 concert that I attended over the weekend with my husband and twin tweens. Last week, my family and I traveled to the beautiful Hope Lake Lodge in the Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York. It was an amazing trip! Hope Lake Lodge was the perfect place for my family's summer vacation! The lodge is situated just outside Ithaca, New York, which sits on the beautiful Cayuga Continue reading...

Fluffy Snickerdoodle Recipe

written by Lauren

snickerdoodle recipe

#makeithappenbloghop My daughters and I just adore homemade snickerdoodles! They are light and fluffy and have a light dusting of cinnamon and sugar -- just delicious! We never used to make them before, but now that my daughters are tweens, they can make the snickerdoodles themselves! I just assemble the ingredients and do some minor supervising. I also put the cookie pans into the oven, but that's because I am an overprotective mom! My 12-year-old daughters are quite capable and could probably make the cookies themselves without my help! (Or maybe I should get them some extra long oven Continue reading...
