I recently painted a gorgeous paint by numbers painting of a Field of Daisies from Winnie’s Picks. I’ve been wanting to hang my pretty new painting, so Winnie’s Picks sent me a pair of stretcher bars to stretch and hang my Field of Daisies painting. (Thanks, Winnie’s Picks!) So today for my Friday’s Find column, I’m discussing my Winnie’s Picks Field of Daisies print and my canvas stretcher bar set, both from Winnie’s Picks.
I recently painted a beautiful Field of Daisies paint by numbers canvas by Winnie’s Picks. I am so pleased with how my painting turned out! I found painting the canvas to be quite relaxing. With all going on in the world right now, I found it nice to tune out everything and just focus on my painting! (You can get more details on my paint by numbers kit here and tips I’ve learned on how to complete a paint by numbers painting here.)
How to Stretch, Frame and Hang a Paint by Numbers Canvas
Once I completed my paint by numbers canvas, I decided to use stretcher bars from Winnie’s Picks ($7.99) to stretch, frame and hang my canvas. Using stretcher bars made it easy to frame a paint by numbers canvas.
I followed this tutorial from Winne’s Picks to stretch and frame my painted canvas and attach it to the stretcher bars. My stretcher bar kit from Winnie’s Picks included a small set of thumbtacks for attaching the canvas to the stretchers.
I used a rubber mallet to help me put the stretcher bars together. (The bars fit together to form a rectangular frame.)
To assemble the stretcher bars into a frame to hold the canvas, I formed a rectangular frame with the stretcher bars. I made sure that the ridged side of the stretcher bars was facing up. I used my mallet to tap the stretcher bars firmly together.
Once I had my stretcher bar frame assembled, I laid my canvas face up on the ridged side of my stretcher bar frame. I folded the ends of the canvas over each bar and used thumbtacks to pin the canvas down. As I was pinning the canvas to the stretcher bars, I made sure the canvas was pulled tight and was evenly stretched over the bars. (At one point I had to adjust how I had the canvas pinned to the bars, since part of the unpainted edge of the canvas was visible on the front of the painting.)
Check this tutorial on Winnie’s Picks for detailed photos on how to tack a paint by numbers canvas to stretcher bars. It was easier than I thought to frame a paint by numbers canvas!
Hanging a Paint by Numbers Canvas
Once my canvas was firmly stretched across my stretcher bar frame, all that was left to do was hang my paint by numbers canvas. I recently hung a beautiful forest print by Canadian artist Lisa Audit from PhotoWall in my living room. I thought that my new paint by numbers canvas would coordinate well with the forest print, so I chose to hang my paint by numbers canvas in my home’s living room.
I simply used Command Picture Hanging Strips to hang my print. I use Command Strips to hang nearly everything in my house!
It turns out that my new painted Field of Daisies print looks fantastic in my home’s bright and sunny living room. This paint by numbers was so much fun, that I’d like to paint another one!
